The draw for the Championship 09 was made last night Monday 6th April. Annacurra have been drawn into a group with Dunlavin, Bray, Kiltegan, Ballymanus and Kilcoole. Whoever comes out top in their group will face the team that finshes 2nd in the opposite group in the semi final and vice versa. Last year Annacurra faced Ballymanus and Bray in the championship and were able to pick up maximum points in them games but this year both teams have added on players to their squads. Kiltegan only being promoted from Junior ‘A’ will have an unknown threat. Dunlavin last year didn’t progress out of the group stage last year but can cause an upset as they defeated Annacurra last year in the league. Kilcoole will be a tough physical game which im sure the Annacurra lads will rise to the challenge.

Annacurra 0-7 Tinahely 2-3 17/3/09
Annacurra have yet to pick up any points from the opening 2 league games having been beaten by St Pats and now Tinahely by a slim 2 point margin in each case. Annacurra rued a lot of missed chances and hit the goal frame 4 times and will feel if they took half of their chances they would of ran out winners on the day. It is still early on in the season and performances can only get better but there is a lot of improvement needed for the up and coming championship.
Annacurra 2-4 1-9 St Patricks 13/3/09
On Friday 13th, Annacurra took to the field against the Senior County runners up, St Pats. Its was a cold, misty evening for a game but both teams took to the field with great excitement seeing as this was their opening game of the league. Both teams were missing key players due to county commitments and injuries and the standard of football was poor compared to the end of last year but there was no lack of commitment with many hard hitting challenges throughout the game. Pats lead at half time with a scoreline of 1-5 to Annacurra’s 1-2. In the 2nd half St Pats dominated the first 15 minutes but the remainder of the game was controlled by Annacurra. The final score was St Pats 1-9, Annacurra 2-4. Annacurra will take a lot of positives from this game seeing as they put it up to a strong Pats team and if they took their chances it could of been Annacurra walking away with their first 2 league points of the league campaign.
Scorers on the day were: Mick O Brien 2 goals, Clive Horan (1),Frank Clune(1), Shane O Keeffe(1), Patrick Moules(1).
