Annacurra 1-17 Kilmacanogue 2-6 5/9/09

Kilmacanogue were well beaten in the Junior C championship by Annacurra, who took control of the game in the second half after there was little or nothing between the teams at the break.

At the half-way stage Annacurra were clinging to a 1-6 to 1-3 advantage but they pulled away on the change over to set up a mouth-watering quarter-final clash with their near neighbours and keen rivals Aughrim.

Scorers for Annacurra: Martin O’Brien (1-0), Shane O’Keeffe (0-6), Stephen Doyle (0-6), Warren Codd (0-2), Colm Maher (0-2), Ciaran Byrne ( 0-1).

Golf Classic 2009

The Annacurra GAA golf classic was played on Friday 4th September in some extreme conditions to the say the least. With the going soft to extremely soft, well done to all who played. Bragging rights go to Alan Nolan and his team of Joe Dempsey, John Rawson and Sean Kenny who scored 87 points in tough conditions.  In second place on 86 points was Pat Nolan, Stephen Moran, Liam Carroll and Tony Stedman. The third place team was sponsored by Heat Merchants. The team scored 84 points and consisted of Owen Lacey, Jim Butler, Sean Whelan and Michael Lilis. Michael Shannon’s sponsored team took fourth place and it consisted of Richard Price, Ger Murphy, Seamus Shanley and Keith Byrne. Johnny Thompson led his team to the Non GUI prize with 82 points. He was assisted by Pat Kane, Eamonn Quill and Brian Quill. The final team prize also goes to a member of our mangement team with Paddy Molloy’s team taking the second Non GUI prize with 74 points. His team consisted of Alan Kelly, J.J Smith, Ian Curran and Kevin Byrne (not Kevin from Kilpipe)

Finally the longest drive prizes were won by John Cox Byrne and Bernie Darcy. Kathleen Hill won the nearest the pin with Eamon O’Brien taking the mens honour.

Thanks to all who participated, sponsors and to those who helped out on the day.

Intermediate Championship
On Tuesday 25th the intermediates

as the game progressed Annacurra started to pull away. Last Sunday saw
the game against Kiltegan being called off with Kiltegan giving
Annacurra the walkover. So well done to the lads for staying undefeated
in the Championship and it looks like they will line out against Kilcoole in a crucial game in Avondale on Saturday 12th September.
The Juniors are due to line out this week as they take on Kilmacanogue in the Junior C Championship. All support is greatly appreciated.
